Friday at the Festival – Let the Weekend Begin
Friday marks the halfway point of the second edition of the festival, the start of the festival weekend, and a long evening at the festival club. Let’s make plans for the days ahead!
What’s on This Weekend?
Before we dive into today’s screenings, a quick look ahead. On Saturday and Sunday, join us for Shoah by Claude Lanzmann – an extraordinary nine-hour documentary, shown in two parts. Part I screens on Saturday at 2:00 PM at Muranów cinema, followed by the discussion Memory as Medium. Art as Testimony, featuring Patrycja Dołowy, Aleksandra Janus, Mikołaj Grynberg, and Jakub Duszyński. Part II will be shown on Sunday at 2:00 PM, also at Muranów cinema.

Sam Peckinpah Retrospective
A rebel of the American Western – today, spend a few intense hours in the company of Sam Peckinpah. Start at 3:15 PM in Iluzjon cinema with Convoy, a journey into the heart of 1970s America, and stay for Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid at 8:30 PM – Peckinpah’s most lyrical and melancholic work.

Meet the Filmmakers
At 5:00 PM at Iluzjon cinema, join us for Daniel Szczechura’s Animations: First Set. After the screening, stay for a Q&A with director Daniel Szczechura, hosted by Jerzy Armata, film and music critic and long-time advocate of animated cinema.

More Highlights This Friday
See France through the eyes of Andrzej Żuławski in the unconventional romantic drama That Most Important Thing: Love (2:00 PM, Luna cinema), or end the night with a midnight cult favorite – Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Delicatessen (11:00 PM, Iluzjon cinema), a film that proves the Amélie director has a much darker side.
And for dessert? Beetlejuice (3:00 PM, Ziemia Obiecana), featuring iconic performances by Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara.
