Warsaw

The first day of the inaugural edition of Timeless Film Festival Warsaw is about to begin!

Shoes (red, of course!) polished? The first day of the inaugural edition of Timeless Film Festival Warsaw is about to begin! Ahead of us are more than 280 screenings across three Warsaw cinemas, special screenings at the Museum of Warsaw, and a selection of Cinema Concerts at the National Philharmonic, the Grand Theater – National Opera, and the POLIN Museum. But let’s start at the beginning, that is, what will we watch on festival Monday?

The official opening calls for a festive setting, so for the commencement of the festival, we invite you to the National Philharmonic. We will blend the worlds of cinema and music with a screening of The Passion of Joan of Arc, accompanied by Stefan Wesołowski’s specially commissioned music for TFFW. Dozens of members of the National Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, under the baton of Michał Krężlewski, will present the result of many months of the artist’s work. And Carl Theodor Dreyer’s film will once again prove that all the accolades bestowed upon it are well-deserved. Tickets for the event are still available.

For all those eagerly awaiting timeless titles for weeks, we assure you: the first day of the festival will be brimming with them! In cinema halls today, we will see, among others, such gems of world cinema as:

The festival is not only about encounters on the big screen but also in front of it. We are extremely pleased to host the invited creators, so join us for meetings after the screenings:

To start this week with the right attitude, we recommend paying special attention to the section Musicals Through the Decades. The graceful dance of Fred and Ginger in Top Hat. The melancholic passion of Judy Garland in A Man That Got Away from A Star Is Born. The beautiful, appropriately exalted Sunrise, Sunset, resounding during Tzeitel and Motel’s wedding in Fiddler on the Roof. We have curated nine titles that prove: the musical is the quintessence of cinema.

And while we’re exploring the essence of cinema, Quentin Tarantino’s cult classic Pulp Fiction will also return to the big screen today (18:15, Atlantic Cinema). To properly prepare for the screening, order a milkshake, press your white shirt, but most importantly, listen to an episode of Michał Oleszczyk’s SpoilerMaster podcast about Pulp Fiction.

Finally, we remind you to replenish your cinematic calories with real ones. We have compiled a list of places where presenting your festival pass will earn you a discount on a meal or drink.

We will conclude Monday at Elementy Club, inaugurating the Official Festival Club of TFFW. See you there!
