Dicks: The Musical
A vagina that leads a life of its own, a queer god of gossip with a rather open-minded approach to relationships, a father in love with sewage mutants – no genre can better accommodate these, than the musical. Shot by American cinema’s chief iconoclast Larry Charles (remember Borat?), Dicks: The Musical is a marvellous oddity produced by A24. Following a merger, Craig and Trevor (Josh Sharp and Aaron Jackson) – womanizing, arrogant businessmen – meet and discover that (surprise!) they are twins separated in childhood. From then on, their goal is to reunite their parents (Broadway veteran Nathan Lane and comedy legend Megan Mullally), who split up years before. Sounds normal? No worries: there’s also a rapping CEO, plenty of kink and perversion, and above all: some excellent musical numbers. Fans of The Rocky Horror Picture Show will love this.
