Amadeus Live – screening of Miloš Forman’s masterpiece with live music by Orchestra and Choir

There couldn’t be a more beautiful opportunity to start your adventure with timeless cinema in Warsaw! Ticket sales have begun for the inaugural event of the Timeless Film Festival Warsaw – unique screenings of Miloš Forman’s Amadeus accompanied by the Polish National Opera Chorus and Orchestra, conducted by David Runtz. You can already plan a trip to 18th-century Vienna with the showy genius Mozart and Salieri, envious of his talent. The screenings will take place on Saturday, April 13 (12:00 PM and 7:00 PM) and Sunday, April 14 (6:00 PM), 2024.

The portrayal of 18th-century Vienna (filmed in Prague’s Old Town), elaborate costumes, cinematography by Miroslav Ondříček, and screenplay by the author of the original stage play, Sir Peter Shaffer, all come together to create a timeless, captivating spectacle. Amadeus combines elements of film and opera, offering an enthralling experience with its timeless exploration of human passions and frailties.

The opportunity to revisit this cinematic classic coincides with the 40th anniversary of the film’s release. Having received 8 Academy Awards and securing a place on numerous lists of all-time great films, Forman’s creation will grace the big screen in high definition. The evening itself is a tribute to this famous piece of work, which will seduce not only melomaniacs and classical music lovers, but also all spectators and viewers who love cinema and want to participate in a unique celebration of one of the most acclaimed films of the 20th century.

Warsaw joins an elite group of cities, including London, Tokyo, Toronto, Seoul, and Paris, as a host for this unique event. We also extend an invitation to the Wrocław edition, scheduled for Saturday, July 20, at 19:00 at the Centennial Hall, as part of the 24th mBank New Horizons International Film Festival (July 18-28, 2024). Tickets for the Wrocław installment can be purchased via eventim.pl.

The film will be shown with both Polish and English subtitles. Duration: 3h (including a 20-minute intermission). Timeless Film Festival Warsaw (April 8-15, 2024), in partnership with the Polish National Opera, extends a warm invitation for you to join us for this exceptional anniversary screening of Miloš Forman’s masterpiece.
