Documentaries About Warsaw: Portrait of the City

Warsaw has fascinated filmmakers not only as a capital but, above all, as a place of constant change. It’s a city whose charm, as the creators of the documentary Wandering Around Warsaw noted, “lies in the range of contrasts” that imbue it with the rhythm and pace of the twentieth century. By the efforts of thousands of people raised from the ruins, in which new life began to blossom just after the war. A mosaic composed of colors and sounds, history and future, a city surprising, full of possibilities, sometimes dangerous, always inspiring. It’s worth exploring through the lens of some of the most outstanding Polish documentary filmmakers, including Andrzej Munk, Kazimierz Karabasz, and Maria Kwiatkowska.
