Labyrinth
The screening on April 18 will be preceded by an introduction by Maria Dutkiewicz.
In anger that the child would not stop crying, fantasy-obsessed 15-year-old Sarah (Jenniffer Connelly) accidentally wishes her baby half-brother, Toby, away to the Goblin King Jareth (played masterfully by David Bowie). He will keep Toby unless Sarah completes his Labyrinth in 13 hours. As she searches for her brother, Jareth serenades her and even offers to be her slave. Is it all a dream? Parallels to Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz abound, and the film is festooned with outstanding set and costume design.

Jim Henson (1936–1990) – American puppeteer, director and producer. He is the famed creator of the Muppets and Fraggles, The Muppet Show and Sesame Street characters, watched by many generations of children and adults worldwide. He is the voice of Kermit the Frog. Originally, Henson treated puppets as merely a way to get himself on television, but they were his ticket to fame on the small and big screens, e.g. The Muppet Movie (1979). He won numerous awards including the Emmy, BAFTA and an Oscar nomination. A chorus of Muppets sang at his funeral while Kermit sat on the coffin with a sign reading, “I’ve lost my voice”.
